I saw Rogue One and it was amazing. I mean I was a little thrown off at first at the beginning because of no screen crawl (it felt like went into the movie late without the usual introduction) and we get to the movie. I liked the characters and showing that the rebellion does have to make some unpleasant decisions to achieve their goal in defeating the Empire. And it was a nice way of filling in a plot hole from A New Hope as to why the Death Star had a kill point in the first place and wasn't fixed prior. Not to mention the even though Darth Vadar's role is fairly light, it was used very well in the movie. It is rare that I see a prequel that sets up the immediate events of the original movie but this one did a great job at it. Almost after seeing it, I was tempted at immediately watching A New Hope. The characters were great, the plot was good, and the pacing was fairly done. Their are some parts of the movie that fall short or could live without, but luckily they are short and easily forgettable. And the last mission was done so well. Sure, there was no epic duel between the main hero and villain, but the over all struggle was what really shined. Everyone's role was vital in the success of the mission and they achieved it (I was playing the Mass Effect 2 music "Suicide Mission" in my head as watching and it works for the situation).
Overall, it was a good film that was respectful to the source material and I highly recommend Star Wars fans see it if they haven't yet.
